Socio-economic status and subject choice at 14: do they interact to affect university access?

This report details work conducted as part of Nuffield Foundation grant EDU/42169 (Principal Investigator: Jake Anders). Parts of the work under this grant were carried out in collaboration with Morag Henderson, Alice Sullivan and Vanessa Moulton, working on research funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. In particular, the analysis reported in Section 4 was led by Morag Henderson. The Nuffield Foundation is an endowed charitable trust that aims to improve social wellbeing in the widest sense. It funds research and innovation in education and social policy and also works to build capacity in education, science and social science research.
